In Kyrgyzstan, every day brings a new surprise.
As we were bicycling near Lake Issyk-kol, we met two young boys that invited us to their home.
They didn't need to ask their parents. In Kyrgyzstan it's a custom to help people that have no place to sleep.
We had our tent and equipment, but it was nice once in a wile to sleep in a worm house.
As we were drinking tradition tea and eating home made bread with jam, I saw from the window of the kitchen a little girl, no more the 12 years old, riding a horse, and the last rays of the sun painted her face in yellow…

Kyrgyz Republic, commonly referred to as Kyrgyzstan, became an independent country on 31 August 1991.
Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked, largely mountainous country in Central Asia bounded on the east by China, on the north by Kazakhstan, on the west by Uzbekistan and on the southwest and south by Tajikistan. From north to south, Kyrgyzstan measures 425 kilometers; from west to east, it measures 900 kilometers.
Kyrgyzstan has an area of 198,500 square kilometers. The total population is approximately 5,081,429 people with majority of Kyrgyz, Russian, and Uzbek. In Kyrgyzstan there are about 80 ethnic groups: Muslim 75%, Russian Orthodox 20%, other 5%.
The capital of Kyrgyzstan is Bishkek being the biggest city and alone represents about 20% of the total population of the country. About 90% of Kyrgyzstan is 1000 meters above sea level. The highest point in the country is Pobeda Peak (meaning Victory Peak in Russian) at 7439 meters. The lowest point is at the Kara-Daryya (Karadar'ya) 132 m.

Kyrgyzstan has sharply continental climate, with hot summers and moderately cold winters. In summer, areas from 800 to 1700 meters above see level has an average temperatures of 26–30 C, winter temperatures in the lowlands average (-)5 C. The country has 1,923 mountain lakes and about 40,000 streams and rivers. However, only 7% of the land is arable, of which 68% is irrigated.
Ysyk-Kul – the largest (6332km2) and deepest (702m) lake in the country, never freezes due to its sufficiently saline content.
This time we did are way on bicycle, fully equipped, cycling around the lake and climbing up the mountains.
In the summer, the climate is fine and the fruit trees are packed with Apples and cherries, apricots and peers, all just falling down to your hand.
During the 600 kilometers we cycled we met endless amount of hospitable people
that put us in their homes to sleep, gave us food and help us find our way around the country. The communication was very hard; they speak only Kyrgyz or Russian, which we didn't have, but like always in such countries, speaking with the hands can help a lot. Taking the south road of lake Ysik-Kol was a great choice, giving us the opportunity to jump into the cool water of the lake and enjoying visiting the villages along the way. But the soul of the country belongs to the Tian-Shan. This massive mountain rang is a heaven for climbers and trekkers alike. Hot-springs, alpine lakes, great valleys and breathtaking views are all there.
