The sink-holes are formed by underground water that melts the salt layer deep under ground. This process leaves behind vast vacuum which Leads to a sudden collapse.
In the last 15 years, sink-holes started to appear along the shore of the Dead Sea.
They where first discover, when a tourist was "swallowed" by one of them into her death. In another place near by, a 15 meter date tree disappeared into the ground, and
A big truck fell into another hole when going on the main dead-sea road.
It is fantastic to walk around the holes and watch the different colors of the salt water inside, although falling is a risk one must take.
